I. Reading:

Comprehension of an unseen Prose passage. Questions to be set not on factual or information items but on global comprehension, implication, reference, relationship between ideas, organisation of the passage.

II. Writing:

1. Writing about People-action-events	- 7 marks
2. Description-objects-instruments-processes	- 7 marks
3. Narration-telling a story	- 7 marks
4. Precis Writing	- 13 marks
Total :	- 50 marks

FOR CLASS - X

III. Reading:

Comprehension of an unseen prose passage. Questions to be set not on factual or information items but onglobal comprehension, impl' Ication, reference, relationship between ideas, organisation of the passage.

IV. Writing:

Filling-in of forms, Expressing opinions, Arguing for and against, Reporting of past events, ongoing activities and future plan facts. Business letters (making enquires, complaints: answering advertisements, writing application, letters, essay).
