Curriculum and Syllabus for Classes XI & XII

 

SCHEME OF STUDIES

1. ACADEMIC STREAM :

The subjects for study include:

  1. English

  2. One of the Modern Indian Languages :

    1. Manipuri

    2. Hindi

    3. Assamese

    4. Bengali

    5. Lushai
      Or Alternative English

    Note: Students may be allowed to appear in the Higher Secondary Examination in any Modern Indian Language included in the Curriculum of the Council even though the said language is not opened in the institution.

  3. General Studies

  4. Three Elective Subjects from any one of the following three groups in the manner as shown against each.

 Group I. Arts.

1. One Elective Language out of : a. English
   b. Manipuri
   c. Sanskrit
   d. Hindi
   e. Assamese
   d. Bengali
2. Philosophy 7. Economics 12.Education
3. Psychology 8.  Political Science 13.Home Science
4. Fine Arts 9. History 14.Mathematics
5. Music 10.Geography 15.Physical, Health Education and Sports
6. Manipuri Dance 11.Sociology 16.Statistics
     
     

 

 

(Students may offer one more subject from this group as 4th subject.)

Group II. Science

1.Physics

2.Chemistry

3.Any one of the following

  1. Biology

  2. Geology or Geography

  3. Anthropology

  4. Home Science

  5. Mathematics

  6. Computer Science

  7. Physical, Health Education and Sports Statistics

  8. Statistics

(Students may offer one more subject from the subjects under (iii) above as 4th Subject)

Group III. Commerce

Business Studies

Accountancy

Any one of the following :

  1. Insurance

  2. Economics

  3. Mathematics

  4. Computer science

  5. Physical, Health Education and Sports

 

(Students may offer one more subject from the subjects Under (iii) above as 4th subject).

2. VOCATIONAL STREAM :

The Subjects under the Vocational Stream include-

A. Compulsory Group :

  • English

  • One of the Modern Indian Languages :Manipuri, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Lushai Or Alternative English.

  • General Foundation Course (Internal Assessment)

B. Elective Group :

Any one of the following Vocational Courses :

  1. Crop and Seed Production Technology

  2. Office Management/Office Secretary ship

  3. Commercial Garment Designing and Making

  4. Marketing and Salesmanship

  5. Textile Designing

  6. Sericulture

  7. Food Preservation and Processing

  8. Building Maintenance

  9. Grooming and Beauty Culture

  10. Maintenance and Repair of Electrical Domestic Appliances

  11. Dress Making, Embroidery and Fashion Co-ordination.

  12. Agro-Industries

  13. Plantation Crops and Spices

  14. Medical Lab. Technician

  15. Journalism

  16. Inland Fisheries

C. Additional Subject:

An elective subject from the Academic Stream may also be offered if the student so desires.

 

Note : For compulsory group, A. 1. and A. 2, the syllabi as given in the Academic Stream shall be followed. For A. 3-TheGeneral Foundation Course shall consist of two parts :

  1. Part-I, common to all vocational courses (to be taught preferably by a lecturer of commerce, Business Studies or Economics).

  2. Part-II, relevant to the course (to be taught by the teachers of the relevant vocational course).
    “ On-the-Job Training", Wherever prescribed is compulsory.

3. INSTRUCTIONAL TIME :

There should be a minimum of 200 working days in a year. The duration of each period should be 45 minutes. The instructional period may be distributed as given below.

However, suitable modifications may be made by the head of the institutions may be made by the head of the institution.

4. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION AND EXAMINATION:

The medium of instruction and examination for all subjects except language subjects, Music and Manipuri Dance shall be English. For language subjects the medium will be the concerned language. For Music, the medium will be Hindi or Manipuri. For Manipuri Dance the medium will be Manipuri
