The second
megalithic monument at Ningel is located around 200 metres to the west
of the inscribed stone of Maharaj Marjit (1813 - 19) at Ningel village
marketplace. The protected area is 2.3 x 2.3 sq.m. |
|
 |
The texture
of the monolith is of medium coarse sandstone. It attains a height of
one metre above ground level. Like the first monolith, this monolith
too is regarded as the companion to the inscribed stone of Maharaj
Marjit, indicating that the monolith was erected on the same day of
erecting the inscribed stone in 1814 A.D. |
|
 |
The
objective of erecting the monolith is primarily to indicate the
direction to which the inscribed stone faces. As the monolith is to
the west of the inscribed stone, it therefore indicates that the
inscribed stone faces west. |
