UNIVERSITY HOSTEL RULES |
NORMS OF LIVING :
i. No boarders shall be absent from the Hostel without the prior permission of the Warden concerned
ii. Students who discontinue for their studies in the middle of the session are required to hand over their rooms immediately to the Warden.
iii. All students are required to surrender their rooms to the Warden within three days after the final examination of the course is over (and for Ph.D. students, submission of the thesis)
iv. No students should entertain unauthorized guest.
v. The University reserves the right to deny entry into the Hostel to visitors if their visit is likely to disturb the peace and order of the Hostel.
vi. Boarders (except for Ph. D.) are permitted to stay in the University during the academic session only, and are to vacate their rooms during the vacations unless there is special permission of the Warden.
vii. All boarders shall be responsible for the furniture and fittings of the rooms allotted to them and in case of any loss or damage to the furniture a, the will deduct from the hostel security deposit.
viii. University reserve the right to take disciplinary action including cancellation of allotment of accommodation the hostels, for violation of Hostel rules.
ix. The boarders are not allowed to remove any property from the dining room, common room or the visitors room to their own rooms.
x. Use of any unauthorized electrical gadgets is not permitted in the rooms. Any tempering with electrical fixtures will be treated as will full damage to the Hostel property. Necessary action will be taken as decided by the Hostel advisory Committee.
xi. Every boarder will be supplied with one cot, one reading table and one chair by the University. He/She will be supplied one 40W/230/250V)electric bulb at the time of admission to the Hostel, replacement of the bulb if necessary will be at the expense of the boarder.
xii. Any disciplinary action will be taken by the Hostel Management Committee.
GUEST :
| (i) | Only one guest can stay with the resident student
for a maximum period of three days at a time with prior permission
of the Warden. |
| (ii) | Only gents can stay as a guest in Men's Hostel
and only ladies can stay in the Ladies' Hostel. The boarders
shall not entertain guest during the period of their absence from
the Hostel. |
| (iii) | Boarders are permitted to
meet the visitors at the visiting room of the Hostel during the
visiting hours only. Visiting hours of the hostels shall be - (a) March - October : 8-9 AM 4-5 PM (b) November - February : 7-8 AM 3-4 PM

HOSTEL MESS :
(i) Each Hostel will have a mess for the boarders.
(ii) Hostel mess is compulsory and under no circumstances, private preparation of food in their respective rooms shall be permitted.
(iii) The Hostel mess will be managed by the Hostel Committee. The respective Warden will be the Chairman of the Hostel Committee.
(iv) The mess bill of the boarders should be notified latest by the fifth of every month.
(v) Boarders are requested to pay their monthly mess bill latest by 10th of every month.
(vi) Dues not paid on the date notified will be accepted with a later fine of Rs.1/-only per day. The name of the defaulter shall be notified on the Hostel Notice Board and his/her name will be struck of from the Hostel rolls after the end of the notice issued to such defaulters.
HOSTEL CHARGES (changeable from time to time):-

| (vii) | Hostel game fee | Rs. 30/- |
| (viii) | Annual get-together fee | Rs.50/- |
| (ix) | Hostel caution money (refundable) | Rs. 300/- |
| (x) | Mess caution money (refundable) | Rs. 1200/- |
| (xi) | Hostel Welfare Fund | Rs. 20/- |
All the above charges and fees shall be paid at the time of admission to the Hostel
The Fees other than those mentioned as refundable shall not be refunded. The refundable fees shall be refunded on production of No Dues Certificate issued by the Warden.
Boarders have to obtain a clearance certificate from the Warden in order to be eligible for the issuance of the admit card to the University examination. The account of each boarder will have to be settled before such a certificate is issued by the Warden.
DURATION OF STAY :
a. Post graduate and student of other course is the
normal prescribed period of the programme of study to which he/she
is admitted in the University.
b. For M. Phil students, one year extensible for 6
months from the date of his/her admission to the M. Phil programme.
c. For Ph.D. students, three years from the date of his/her admission to the Ph.D. programme extensible to a maximum of 2 years ( on the recommendation of the School Research Committee) or three days after the submission of thesis, whichever is earlier.

The Hostel advisory Committee of the University shall, in addition to the powers vested in it under the Hostel Rules, have power to deal all matters connected with the general administration of the Hostel including the running of the Mess. The Committee shall have power to recommend any disciplinary action against any inmate or employee working in the Hostel.
